About Us
The Njeri and Macharia (NJEMA) Foundation was born out of a deep desire to continue and strengthen three impactful ministries that have been transforming young lives for years – alternative rites of passage, mental health and rehabilitation services, and education support for needy children from vulnerable communities. Founded by Mary Njeri and John Macharia, the Foundation ensures that this meaningful work continues to grow—supporting thousands of children and youth across Kenya and beyond.

The Three Ministries
Although registered in 2025, NJEMA Foundation’s work began much earlier. Since 2007, the Alternative Rites of Passage (AROP) program has guided over 3,000 adolescents through the important transition from childhood to adulthood. In 2015, a mental health ministry was launched to help young people overcome addiction and substance dependency—bringing hope and healing to hundreds. And in 2018, an education sponsorship program began supporting children from vulnerable communities, helping them access quality learning.
